Hello,
We have a horizontal machining center with a Fanuc 15M controller. There was a crash that broke something and when maintenance was done with the machine, the Z-axis home position had moved .150" (meaning the number in the book for this machine for the Z-axis distance from the end of travel to the c/l of rotation (of B-axis) is now .150" longer than it is supposed to be). I asked if they could just set the home position forward the .150" to get the numbers to jive again and the answer was "no", because then we wouldn't be able to tool change; the Z0 wouldn't be in-time with the tool changer.
Isn't there a way to give the tool changer it's own home position? I'm looking at a Mazak book (I don't have the Fanuc 15M book) and there are multiple reference points that, I'm assuming, you can assign. Am I wrong on this? How do the reference points work, and what are they for? On our Mazak's, there are "home 1" and "home 2" buttons, one of them is for the tool change position. Is this where G28's and G30's come into play?
Currently, when I program a tool change for this machine, it just requires an "M6" and that brings the machine to the tool change position as well as execute the tool change.
I'm not sure I've explained this well enough - but I'll provide whatever info I can if there is a way to solve this.
Thanks for any help.
