Hello all, my first post here. I'm extremely new to CNC repair & diagnostics and I'm hoping someone can help me. At our plant we have a mill that is cutting many flat spots as it does a circular interpolation. The flat sport are in mostly random spots (ie. not in the quadrants) however they seem to be repeatable around the circle on each test cut. I've attached pictures that I hope will help explain what the problem is. I tried my best to get clear pictures but the lighting was difficult off the shiny surface. I have checked the machine for levelness and the rails for straightness and they are perfect. I'm wondering if this may be a taper problem in the spindle or maybe one of the DC motors is messing up. I have tuned the servos perfect and have messed around with reducing the drive's gain with no avail. Initially I thought that maybe the drive's gain was set too high and the drive's were just sitting like a racehorse at the gate but that didn't turn out to be. Help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
